Biscuits

Source: Betty Crocker Cookbook
  • 1-¾ C. flour
  • 2-½ t. baking powder
  • ½ t. salt
  • 1/3 C. firm butter
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 4-6 T. milk or heavy cream
Instructions: Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Mix dry ingredients in bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture looks like fine crumbs. Stir in egg and milk. Place dough on lightly floured surface; gently roll in flour to coat. Knead lightly 10 times. Roll or pat into a circle and cut with open end of a 6-ounce juice glass dipped in flour. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-15 minutes or until golden brown at 400 degrees F.
